Mukminun.com is an independent website that emerged out of an initiative by an Indonesian Muslim named Irfan Nugroho, who previously ran a blog entitled MelodramaticMind.com for the past 5 years. This project was launched in April 2011. It is a non-profit institution born in Indonesia with a global outlook.
Mukminun.com is currently published in one language, Bahasa Indonesia and tries to cover Islam as a religion for all aspects of life, and Muslims as international citizens. We ascribe to the values of Islam as a comprehensive value system that has many things in common with values held by the wider human society.
Mukminun.com holds no bias towards particular persons or bodies, be they political affiliated, governmental, popular, doctrinal, or other. We believe that accepting diversity and differences enriches people’s experiences and reject seclusion and stagnation.
Mukminun.com also adheres to credibility, which means that we will pay close attention to professional conduct, scientific accuracy, and accurate reporting. In the meantime, we stress the shared civilizational, social, and human responsibility.
Mukminun.com provides social and life counseling services through professional counselors who specialize in different fields of religion, society, family, development, health, and education. We also present relevant training courses to those who need them.
The message communicated through Mukminun.com is not theoretical, but it is developed through pragmatism and practicality, which means a focus on the need to offer people useful knowledge and education and to teach them beneficial values and skills. This website aims to cater to people’s needs and provide answers to their questions with the aim of achieving sustainable development.
Components of Mukminun.com
Mukminun.com contains five key components that arise from the comprehensive roles of the institution. These five components are:
1- News: This provides information and news reports about important events concerning the world in general and Muslims in particular and the major issues that affect them, the most important of which are Palestine and Jerusalem, and Muslims living in the West. Focus is also made on forgotten regions of the Muslim world, especially in sub-Saharan Africa.
2- Introducing Islam: This component is presented in all sections except the news category. It is functioned to serve as a reference for non-Muslims and new Muslims to learn about Islam in a simple and straightforward manner.
4- Counseling: This component serves as a reference for Muslims on how their religion interacts with their daily lives. Three different services are provided that cover:
Religion, which provides fatwas and how a Muslim can lead an interactive daily life.
Society, which provides social counseling and discusses the social issues related to the Muslim family.
5- An Intellectual Component: This component is primarily meant to review and renew Islamic discourse and related practices with the aim of discussing it in a contemporary fashion that is still compatible with the roots of Islam. This component is also intended to pave the way for inter-faith dialogue and for probing the relationship between religion and life.
