LESSONS FROM THE HADITH
Lesson that we can learn from the aforementioned hadith are as follow:
1 – The great favor of Allah upon this Ummah.
2 – The great kindness of Allah to His servants.
3 – The guardian angels write down all the deeds of the servants, including the deeds of the heart.
4 – Whoever intends to do a good deed but does not do it, it is written for him as a complete good deed.
5 – Whoever intends to do a good deed and does it, Allah writes it with Him as ten good deeds.
6 – Whoever intends to do a bad deed but does not do it, it is not written for him as a bad deed.
7 – Whoever does a bad deed, it is written against him as one bad deed.
8 – It is appropriate for a Muslim to intend a good intention with every action he does, so that he may be rewarded for it.
9 – A good deed, Allah multiplies it to ten good deeds, then to seven hundred times, then to many multiples.
10 – Affirming the attribute of speech for Allah, the Exalted.
ADDITIONAL LESSONS REGARDING THE HADITH
Benefit (1): Whoever intends to do a good deed but does not do it, has three conditions:
The first condition: That he strives for its causes, but does not achieve it, then he will be written the full reward. Allah says:
And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him, his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful, (QS An-Nisa: 100).
The second condition: To intend to do a good deed, and to be determined to do it, but to leave it for a better good deed, then this person will be rewarded with the reward of the higher good deed which is more complete, and will be rewarded for the initial intention for the worldly good deed;
Due to the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, “Actions are but by intentions, and every man shall have only that which he intended,” (Sahih Bukhari: 1. Sahih Muslim: 1907).
The third condition: To leave it out of laziness, then this person will be rewarded for the intention.
Benefit (2): Whoever intends to commit a sin but does not do it, has three conditions:
The first condition: That he tries to do it, and strives for it, but does not achieve it, then the full sin is written against him.
The second condition: That he intends to do it, then leaves it not out of fear of Allah, then nothing is written for him or against him.
The third condition: That he leaves it out of fear of Allah, then a full good deed is written for him. Wallahua’lam
