COMPLETE TRANSLATION
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah Radhiyallahu Anhu who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Do not envy one another. Do not artificially inflate prices one another. Do not hate one another. Do not turn away from one another. Do not undercut one another in trade. Be servants of Allah as brothers. A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not oppress him. He does not abandon him. He does not lie to him. He does not belittle him. Piety is here, (Abu Hurairah said, “And he (the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) pointed to his chest three times). It is enough (for someone to be called) evil if he belittles his Muslim brother. Every Muslim is sacred to another Muslim: his blood, his wealth, and his honor,” (Sahih Muslilm: 2564).
LESSONS FROM THE HADITH
1. The prohibition of oppression, envy, mutual hatred, estrangement, and interfering in others’ trade transactions.
2. The prohibition of harming a Muslim in any way, whether through words or actions.
3. The prohibition of spilling Muslim blood, seizing their wealth, and violating their honor.
4. Among the objectives of Islamic law is to promote brotherhood among Muslims.
5. Piety resides in the heart, and its effects are evident in one’s actions. This is why the Prophet pointed to his chest when mentioning piety.
6. A warning against a Muslim despising his fellow Muslim, as it contradicts love.
